GenR Bay Area hosts Women’s Empowerment Discussion
On March 19th, about 40 young professionals attended a panel discussion hosted by the IRC’s Generation Rescue (GenR) group addressing the most pressing gender issues facing the Middle East today and how the IRC is working to address the growing needs of women worldwide.
Moderated by Ken Maxey of the GenR Leadership Team, the panel included Asmaa Donahue, the IRC's Women's Protection & Empowerment Technical Advisor, and Maisaa Feddag, a LGBT asylee woman that fled the Middle East after threats from her family and fear of persecution. In addition to sharing their experiences, the panelists discussed how people can get involved locally in these issues and what services women IRC resettles in the bay could benefit most from.
Special thanks to GenR Leadership Team and the Waterfront Hotel for hosting this event!
