Local Law Firm Sponsors Refugee Family in the New Year
The San Francisco-based law firm Fragomen, Del-Rey, Bernsen, & Loewy, got into the giving spirit as they reached out to the IRC at the beginning of this year in hopes of sponsoring a refugee family. The firm volunteered to hold an in-kind donation drive where they collected the majority of the items the family was in great need of. Some of these items included: pens, pencils, backpacks, notebooks, a Kindle, toiletries, towels, an iron, jackets, coats, kitchen utensils, silverware, dishware, Tupperware, an electric kettle, a toaster, a pot set, and much more!
One of the firm’s employees commented on the experience after delivering the donation to the family:
“Meeting the refugee family was incredible, the six children are amazingly strong and intelligent; they are also quite the entertainers. Having siblings of my own on the opposite side of the country, it was a very nice reminder of how important family truly is in everyday life. Our office is also going to try to keep in touch with the family and continue to donate.”
The refugee family was incredibly grateful for the donation and they have benefitted tremendously from the items they received. It is gestures like these that truly give our clients hope for their new life here in the U.S.
