Brophy High School Helps Refugee Youth Score Big

On January 9th, 71 refugee children participated in a day of sports education with Brophy High School volunteers. Coordinated by Vital Ntibushemeye and Luciana da Fonseca of IRC’s Family and Youth Services Program, children from Burma, Bhutan, Iraq, Eritrea, Somalia, DR Congo and Burundi were invited for a day of sports and fun. The Brophy High School students manned several stations around the field, and the refugee youth got a chance to practice the fundamentals of a new sports activity at each station.

Many thanks go out to Brophy High School for providing the field and volunteers, as well as HandsOn Greater Phoenix, who provided transportation, jerseys and snacks.
