Congressman Ben Quayle Visits Citizenship Class

On October 18 Congressman Ben Quayle visited the IRC Phoenix citizenship class.  Congressman Quayle’s local office was visited by Citizenship Education Coordinator, Joanie Calder, as part of her outreach to members of Congress who were representatives of her students.

Congressman Quayle’s appearance brought to life question 23 of the civics portion for the citizenship test (Who is your United States Representative?) as the majority of the students in the class are his constituents.  Congressman Quayle shared his experiences about working at the Capital, surprises, likes and dislikes, and answered questions from students.  He also posed for pictures with students from his district, pictured here.

IRC’s citizenship classes prepare students for all phases of the Naturalization test, including 100 questions and answers of the civics portion, reading and writing a sentence and answering questions regarding the application for citizenship.
