Superstar Employer: The Service Companies
The IRC-Phoenix would like to highlight a successful partnership that has blossomed over the past year with The Service Companies. Headquartered in Miami, The Service Companies provides outsourcing services to the hospitality industry. The IRC-Phoenix began collaborating with The Service Companies in July of 2010 and to date has placed 37 hard-working newly arrived refugees in janitorial positions. Refugees have predominately worked overnight shifts in kitchen cleaning – a demanding and time-sensitive job that requires a close attention to detail and dedication.
The Service Companies has rewarded employees for their hard-work with employee appreciation events and employee of the month honors. With close collaboration between managers and IRC Employment Specialists, a comprehensive training program has been established which utilizes interpreters to ensure safety is a priority and that a high level of productivity is achieved each day. Refugees have become an integral part of the success that this rapidly expanding company has experienced in the past year and recently, The Service Companies contacted IRC offices in Salt Lake City, Miami and Dallas when luxury hotels in these cities needed trustworthy candidates to fill positions.
This week, The Service Companies hired two refugees from Burma: Tu Reh and Ker Reh (pictured above). Congratulations on getting your first job in America Tu and Ker! Thank you to the Human Resources and Managers at the Service Companies!
Refugees make great employees. To learn more about hiring a refugee, please contact Stephen Allen at stephen.allen@rescue.org or (602) 433-2440 x228.
