Tax Prep Services
For the last five years, IRC has participated in the IRS’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, which certifies volunteers to prepare taxes for families. February through April 15th is a high traffic time for the Financial Education Program which is coordinated by Frackson Sakala. Frackson sees around 200 families each year for this service. It helps connect IRC and its services to refugees since tax preparation is so universal. For many families with a low income, a large tax refund including the Earned Income Tax Credit is a chance to save for goals like home ownership or business ownership. Please join IRC by volunteering to be a screener or even a tax preparer (you must get certified – but it’s fun!). If you are interested contact Nicky Walker, Volunteer Coordinator at 602.433.2440 ext. 213.
