Celebrating a Successful Marketing Season for New Roots!

As the summer comes to a close and fall begins, we celebrate a successful marketing season for New Roots. One of the goals of the New Roots program is to ensure that families have easy access to nutritious, culturally appropriate foods. This summer, at the Farm Stand and People's Market, our farmers provided roughly 40 households per week with fresh, affordable produce. Together the Farm Stand and People's Market made a total of $12,425 in sales, with all money going directly to refugee farmers. With the expansion of the program, New Roots also supplied ten restaurants and three local grocery stores with produce in FY2012, and in retail sales our farmers made a total of $3,607. So in total, New Roots participants earned over $16,000 through direct marketing and retail sales! Our deepest gratitude goes out to all who have supported the New Roots program and helped the refugee and low-income communities access fresh, affordable produce.
