The first Neighborhood Farm Stand a huge success
August marked the inaugural Neighborhood Farm Stand for the IRC and its partners at the New Roots of Utah. Refugees and other community members poured out to purchase fresh, healthy and affordable foods grown by Burundian farmers. Over 100 pounds of potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, kale were sold. Many customers eligible for food stamps were able to double their purchases through our Fresh Fund.
The farm stand will be open for business Saturdays from August 20th through the end of October at the Horizonte Instruction and Training Center, located at 1234 S. Main St. in Salt Lake City with a variety of seasonal produce available. For more information contact Grace Henley at Grace.Henley@rescue.org or 801.328.1091.
