IRC Hosts Family Night for Refugees

The IRC hosted a family night filled with fun activities and workshop on strengthening families.

Fathers, mothers, and children from Iran, Congo, Sudan, Bhutan, and Burma gathered for Family Night hosted by the International Rescue Committee on August 13, 2010.   The night afforded families the opportunity to spend an evening engaging with each other through art, food, and education. Bonnie Peters, the Executive Director of the Family Support Center, was the keynote speaker.   Ms. Peters spoke to the stress families undergo during the resettlement process and provided families with ideas, skills, and techniques for dealing with and overcoming stress.   IRC would like to thank Horizonte Instruction and Training Center, Bad Dog Rediscovers America, University of Utah Bennion Center, and the Family Support Center for their support of Family Night.
