The IRC in Salt Lake City Citizenship Education Program
Becoming a U.S. citizen is an incredibly important achievement in the life of a refugee, but many find the process difficult to navigate on their own. The Citizenship Education Program at the IRC in Salt Lake City educates refugees on this process, prepares them to pass the citizenship exam, and provides help with each step along the way. Twice-weekly classes focus on American Government, History and Geography, as well as English Language instruction and vocabulary. One-to-one volunteer tutoring provides more in-depth, personalized instruction. The IRC Coordinators help refugee clients with the application process, and with understanding each next step in the progression toward citizenship.
