4th Graders Help New Two Refugee Families
Through a unit of study that combined entrepreneurship and philanthropy, 4th graders at Francis Parker Lower School raised funds to purchase items for two newly arrived refugee families from Burma.
Student groups formed companies. They then had $25 to spend on raw materials to create a product which they sold at special business fair at the school. With the proceeds, they were able to provide dishes, blankets, toiletries and more to the two refugee families. They donated an additional $300 to purchase other needed items.
Thanks to the students in Mrs. Hayman's and Mrs. Voight's classes, these refugee families have a safe and welcoming place to call home.
If you would like to help a new refugee family with donations, please contact Sneha.Patel@theIRC.org or 619 641 7510 x 295.
Special thanks to the Francis Parkers 4th grade students!
