Field Trips

Refugee and immigrant youth in the neighborhood of City Heights often lack exposure to opportunities in the greater San Diego area due to lack of transportation.

IRC Youth Programs seek to resolve that issue by coordinating intentional fieldtrips to introduce youth to the breadth of fun and educational experiences that San Diego has to offer.

Field trips are an integral element to many IRC Youth Programs as they provide space for students to build healthy interpersonal skills and learn nuances of American culture in a relaxed environment. Trips to various beaches, Balboa Park museum visits, College Campus tours, scavenger hunts through Old Town, and visits to the snow are just a few examples of the wonderful outings IRC youth have taken.
