Micro-Finance Tour - December 10th
Since 2001, the IRC Microenterprise Program has assisted 175 San Diego-based refugees to start their own small business. We invite you to hop on IRC’s shuttle bus for a taste of San Diego’s refugee-owned small businesses.

IRC Micro-Finance Bus Tour
December 10th, 10:30am—12:30pm
$20 per person $15 with student ID.
We will leave the City Heights Farmers' Market at 10:30am.
Transportation will be provided to Sammoon Bakery and Restaurant in El Cajon, and then to Fatuma’s Pizza (Formerly Safari Grill) in City Heights.
At each location, speakers will talk briefly about their experiences as refugee small business-owners.
The cost of the event covers round-trip transportation and sample food at both restaurants. There will be multiple opportunities to use smart phones and cameras to promote our IRC-supported businesses. Feel free to bring them along!

Sammoon Restaurant & Bakery
Sammoon is the first Iraqi restaurant/ bakery in the San Diego area to offer authentic Iraqi Sammoon, a traditional Iraqi bread, along with a variety of Middle Eastern cuisine, including nutritious and competitively priced appetizers (hot & cold), entrées (including vegetarian dishes), wraps, pastries, desserts and drinks. The business owner, Safaa Al Bazzaz is an Iraqi refugee with more than 10 years of experience with his family business back in Iraq. He will speak to us about his experience as a refugee small-business owner.

Fatuma’s Restaurant
Fatuma’s Restaurant is a recently renovated restaurant that offers East African staples from Somalia and Ethiopia, as well as pizza and other baked goods. The restaurant is owned by Abdikadir Osman, a local entrepreneur and refugee. Abdikadi started with a small grocery store in 1998 and is now the proud owner of three businesses in San Diego - a grocery store, Fatuma’s, and the highly acclaimed Safari Grill Restaurant, which the IRC helped start. As a successful business owner, Abdikadir is able to support his family and help the local economy by hiring employees. He will speak to us about his experience as a successful entrepreneur.

The IRC’s Holiday Fair will also be taking place on December 10th at the City Heights Farmers' Market. Arrive early to shop at the fair or buy produce from the market vendors. The market operates from 9am to 1pm.
