IRC San Francisco Appreciates Volunteers
The IRC will host its annual Volunteer Appreciation event, commemorating National Volunteer Week, on April 28th at Bissap Baobab in San Francisco. This event will honor our volunteers and the esteem to which volunteers are held by the refugees they serve on a daily basis and by IRC staff.
Volunteers provide a variety of services to the IRC, including mentoring, job placement services, helping kids get enrolled in school, accompanying newly arrived refugees to social services and doctors’ appointments, ESL tutoring, delivering furniture to refugees’ homes, event planning, and administrative assistance.
The work of the IRC simply would not be possible without the work of our volunteers, who do so much to help newly arrived refugees transcend the atrocities of their pasts and rebuild their lives here in the Bay Area.
If you’re interested in volunteering with the IRC in San Francisco or in Oakland, please contact Mykael Ornbaun at 510-452-8222 or Mykael.Ornbaun@theIRC.org.
