A Beautiful Day for a Picnic at Seahurst Park!

On Sunday, August 26th, clients, volunteers and friends of the IRC in Seattle gathered at Seahurst Park in Burien for some good food and an amazing view. It was a cool afternoon in Burien, which made for a pleasant day outside for the 80-100 people that came to eat and relax at the beautiful park on the Puget Sound.

The IRC in Seattle’s Executive Director, Bob Johnson, put on his grilling apron and kept the barbecue going as hungry people filtered through to have a burger, and many other foods including homemade sausages and pie. There was a variety food types as picnic goers brought dishes found in their home countries as well.

The children were not shy about playing in the sand at the picnic spot, and many of them also entertained themselves with bubbles. On their way out, everyone received IRC reusable shopping bags!

The picnic was a great opportunity to bring together people who are involved at the IRC in Seattle in all different ways, and spend time together sharing stories, food and a good time. Thank you to those who came out and made this event such a success!

This year’s picnic would not have been possible without generous donations from local Albertsons, Trader Joe’s, Fred Meyer, Target, Costco, Safeway, QFC and Evergreen Vending!
