Come Shop with us at the Stop and Shop!
The IRC in Silver Spring recently opened a donations store at the Suburban Washington Resettlement Center. A long time dream for the Silver Spring office, the ‘Stop and Shop,’ as the store is known, officially opened its doors on October 24th, 2012. Open to all SWRC clients, the Stop and Shop gives clients access to new or gently used seasonally appropriate clothing, home goods, kitchen items, and children’s toys.
With the help of two amazing volunteers, the Stop and Shop operates twice weekly on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The volunteers assist the clients as they browse and ensure that the shop is stocked to meet our client’s needs. Since the opening of the shop, we have successfully distributed over $12,000 worth of donated items to SWRC clients. As we move into spring, we hope to offer more children’s books and toys as well as items for new mothers. If you are interested in donating or organizing a donation’s drive on our behalf, please contact Dana Henderson at SilverSpring@Rescue.org. Help the Stop and Shop grow!
