I am Woman, I am...
On Sunday, March 10th, the Silver Spring Women's Group came together in honor of International Women's Day. Along with homemade food from their countries of origin, the women brought lessons and stories about what it means to be a woman. They read poetry, watched short video clips, and engaged in conversations that crossed cultural differences and gaps in age. When asked to identify characteristics and traits that describe themselves, they realized that with these same words, they were able to define something even bigger: womanhood. The reoccurring theme of the Women's Group events is that the similarities outnumber the differences. There is much more that unites women across the globe than there is that divides them.
