International Rescue Committee (IRC)

Back-to-School Drive for Refugee Children

This year, the IRC will enroll over 85 children in a Tucson school. For many, it will be their first experience in a classroom. To be successful, these students will need basic school supplies such as backpacks, pocket folders, notebooks and more. Our goal is to collect 100 stuffed backpacks so that every child can have a fair chance at a new education in America.

Help a Child
With your help, the IRC will be able to send newly arrived refugee children to school equipped with the supplies they need to be successful. Most needed items include backpacks stuffed with the following:

  • Box of crayons
  • Pencil sharpener
  • 3 pocket folders
  • 2 spiral notebooks
  • 3-ring binder
  • 3-hole notebook paper

We will also accept any amount of the above items individually. Donations can be dropped off at our Tucson office on Monday, Wednesday or Friday throughout the month of July. Distribution to refugee children will begin the first week of August. For more information, please email Desiree Collins or call our office 520.319.2128.
