Family Mentor Program Coordinator

Job Title: Intern, Family Mentor Program Coordinator

Position Description:

The Family Mentor Program Coordinator will work with the Volunteer Services Coordinator to oversee the recently expanded Family Mentor Program. The Intern will further establish best practices within the program while also vetting strategies designed by a previous program evaluation. [Family Mentors are field-based volunteers who serve as acculturation guides and language partners for IRC clients.]



  • Assist in the recruitment, screening, and placement of volunteer applicants
  • Consult with IRC staff to identify clients needs and potential areas of volunteer involvement
  • Conduct site visits to monitor volunteer’s progress and ensure activities meet Program goals
  • Support and develop the potential of each Family Mentor volunteer
  • Track key data points which reveal Program health and success
  • Generate reports to share with internal management and Program funders
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of relevant outreach events
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Agency



  • Pursuing a Masters Degree in Administration or related field or demonstrating equivalent experience
  • Personal vehicle with proof of valid driver’s license, insurance and clean driving record
  • Strong problem solving, writing, and communication skills; organized and attentive to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding client/donor information.
  • Ability to commit to a consistent schedule during IRC business hours
  • Experience with cross-cultural and limited-English communication is a plus



  • 12 hours/week for 3 months
  • Primary availability during Business Hours (M-F; 8:30-5:00) with occasional site visits in evenings
  • Special consideration given to applicants able to make multi-semester commitment
