Partners in the Community: The University of Arizona Health Network
The IRC in Tucson would like to thank one of our great partners in the community, The University of Arizona Health Network (formerly University Physicians Healthcare and University Medical Center). The network of doctors and facilities has been working with the IRC in Tucson to help refugee families stay healthy and access treatment for illness for over a decade.
Recently, however, the UA Health Network went beyond their roles as doctors and nurses. Recognizing that refugees struggle to purchase even the most basic items such as toilet paper and toothpaste, the UA Health Network's Health Plans division held a hygiene supply drive. Their focused efforts resulted in several boxes of shampoo, soap, deodorant, feminine products, toilet paper and other essential items.
And this isn’t the first time the UA Health Network has helped refugee families. At the beginning of the summer, they also donated enough water bottles to give each newly arrived refugee the opportunity to stay hydrated and healthy in the hot desert sun.
The IRC in Tucson is fortunate to have a relationship with such a wonderful corporate partner committed to helping refugees in our community be well.Thank you!
