Sara Siebert's Wake Up Call
From California to Congo, women and girls face unspeakable violence and abuse. Yet each day women and men are fighting to boldly reimagine a safer world. Find out what keeps them going despite incredible obstacles.
Sara Siebert, who works with IRC partner Beyond Borders in Monrovia, Liberia, muses that violence against women and girls doesn't benefit anyone--including the very men who perpetrate violence. She shares the story of a man who, with help, realized that his violent ways not only hurt his family, but isolated him from the people he cared for most. With his family's support, he was able to change his behavior drastically—a welcome surprise for Sara.
