Take action to support refugee resettlement, contribute a gift card for a newly-arrived refugee family, and have a drink with fellow globally-minded folks in your community.
At the happy hour, you’ll learn about the Administration's recent cuts to the refugee resettlement program - a lifesaving humanitarian program that has helped more than 3 million refugees find safety in the U.S. - and take action to support the GRACE Act. This proposed legislation will ensure we welcome at least 95k refugees to the U.S. each year no matter who is president. We'll also learn about a recent Executive Order allowing cities and states to effectively implement their own refugee bans. Come take action to keep our community a welcoming place for refugees!
We will also collect gift cards for local families the IRC in Seattle supports. We suggest gift cards of any amount to grocery or “big box” stores, or cash cards, such as Visa gift cards, that empower families to purchase any items they need most.
Representatives from the IRC, Oxfam America, and the ONE Campaign will be in attendance. Come learn more about their work and how you can help!
