Dear IRC Volunteers and Supporters,
We are so humbled by your incredibly generous response to our Back to School Supply Drive and are thrilled to report that so far, we have collected an amazing 85 Back to School Kits for the families and students we serve!
Through your donations, we have enough Early Childhood and Elementary Supply Boxes to support our families with younger children, however, we came up a little short on our Middle/High School Supply Boxes, particularly as we have so many IRC Youth programs students in that age group.
Just in case any of you weren’t able to make our first drop off weekend, or you have friends or family who might be interested in supporting our students, we wanted to share Phase 2 of our Back to School Supply Drive, with a rather ambitious goal of collecting a further 100 Middle/High School Supply Boxes and 100 scientific calculators to accompany them.
100 boxes is our dream, and would allow us to provide every refugee middle/high school student in our programs with the supplies they need to get through this school year. With school boards meeting to discuss plans for returning to in-person learning as early as October, our students need this extra support now more than ever. If you are interested in contributing to the drive, part 2, we would love your support! Here is how to participate:
- Sign up to purchase supplies for a Middle/High school supply box or Scientific Calculators. The sign-up website contains links and a list of what to buy. Sign up here.
- Once you have signed up, purchase the supplies and pack them into a clear plastic box with a top (see picture above). This will be a supply box for one student.
- Drop off your box in front of the IRC in Atlanta office between 12:00 and 1:00pm on Saturday, September 26. Please wear a mask as this will be a socially-distanced, contact-free drop.
Thank you so much for supporting the families we serve as we work together to ensure our children can succeed with remote learning! We are so appreciative of your time and effort in contributing these kits. If you have any questions please contact Christopher.Carpenter [at] Rescue.org and Fiona.Freeman [at] Rescue.org.
Thanks for all you do,
The IRC in Atlanta’s Adult Education and Youth Teams
