On Saturday, May 6, in honor of April being Volunteer Appreciation Month, the IRC in Atlanta took the opportunity to celebrate our volunteers and interns with a Volunteer Appreciation Brunch. This event gathered volunteers from across all of our programs to connect with IRC staff and allow us to express our gratitude for their service to our humanitarian mission.

With catering provided by IRC Microenterprise Development clients, Kababji Grill and Royal Nigerian Foods, attendees enjoyed delicious Mediterranean and Nigerian dishes while reflecting on our collective accomplishments over the past year.

We also took this time to recognize the hard work of our Economic Empowerment Advisory Council (EEAC), a group comprised of nine business leaders from across metro Atlanta who collaborate to source meaningful employment opportunities for IRC clients while simultaneously challenging misconceptions about hiring refugees and other immigrants within their respective fields. EEAC member and Client Executive at Sodexo, David Healy, recently coordinated a generous donation of 20 laptops for students in the IRC in Atlanta’s Career Development and Kickstart Scholars programs.

We are so thankful for all of our incredible volunteers! Hear from two IRC volunteers, in their own words, in our recent Volunteer Appreciation spotlights and, if you would like to get involved as a volunteer with the IRC in Atlanta, view our current volunteer opportunities and reach out to [email protected]
