Family Corner IRC is now live on Facebook and Instagram! By sharing educational content, parenting tips, and advice from early childhood specialists, Family Corner IRC is offering a helping hand to caregivers on their exciting journey with their children from birth to 8 years old.
Family Corner IRC is an integral part of the International Rescue Committee and Sesame Workshop’s Ahlan Simsim early childhood initiative that delivers early learning and nurturing care to children and caregivers in the Middle East, especially those who have been impacted by crisis and displacement. The program combines IRC’s services for children and their caregivers with a new Arabic language TV series (of the same name — meaning “Welcome Sesame” in Arabic).
Upon joining Family Corner IRC, caregivers will access educational early childhood development resources, including live-action and animated videos, along with image and text-based material. In addition to content created by Ahlan Simsim’s team of specialists, Family Corner IRC shares Tips powered by Vroom, a global program of Bezos Family Foundation that helps caregivers boost their child’s learning during the time they already spend together through science-based activities.
Complementing Sesame Workshop-led social media pages that center on the Ahlan Simsim TV show, this IRC-led social media initiative is designed to be direct-for-caregivers, allowing them to engage with the content and lessons in a way that is easily assessable, easily usable and tailored to their needs. Caregivers are also welcomed to join and participate in an online community where they can connect with other caregivers, open discussions, ask questions and receive tips, advice and activities from Ahlan Simsim specialists to promote learning and healthy development, and foster a more stable and enriching environment for both caregivers and their children.
