The IRC in Atlanta launches ‘Support a Camper’ campaign

Last year you raised an incredible $5,187 to ensure that 20 future graduates could attend the IRC in Atlanta’s 'Ready, Set, College!' summer camp. Please Support a Camper again in 2019 and help us meet our goal of $7,500 before summer!

The majority of jobs in the United States now require a college degree; however, young refugees often face numerous barriers to enrolling in and completing post-secondary education. With your support, the IRC in Atlanta’s 'Ready, Set, College!' summer camp will prepare 23 students to gain admission to college and equip them with the skills needed to succeed in higher education and beyond! Each day of summer camp will feature SAT tutoring and college readiness workshops on financial aid, life skills and essay writing, as well as fun and engaging programming for social enrichment.

Your donation will directly support students like Hawa, who has attended summer camp for the past two years and is now a senior preparing to graduate and attend college. While working on her college essay during camp, Hawa wrote: “I’m proud of the progress I have made. My goal is to go to college and be successful.  I want to become a pharmacist, so I can aide people in other countries with limited access to medicine and get the help they need.” Hawa has already earned her Pharmacy Tech certificate while still in high school, secured a part-time job at a local pharmacy and is well on her way to achieving her college goals!

Please Support a Camper and give the gift of college readiness to a future graduate.
