Join Us: Thanksgiving Food Drive for Clarkston families

In lieu of our annual Thanksgiving Feast for newly-arrived refugee families—called off this year due to COVID-19—the IRC in Atlanta and our generous partners at Memorial Drive Ministries are hosting a contactless Food Drive to provide food boxes to Clarkston families in time for Thanksgiving.

Please join us in giving thanks by giving back and help us to collect as many of the following food items as possible. Food Boxes will be distributed on a first come first served basis at two Clarkston apartment complex locations in November.

Canned Meats (preferably Halal)

  • Beef Chunks
  • Chicken Chunks

Canned Vegetables

  • Corn
  • Diced Tomatoes

Drinks

  • Teas
  • Powdered Milk

Desserts

  • Dried fruits (e.g. dates, figs, apricots, mango)

Seasonings

  • Spices (e.g. turmeric, dry chili, cumin)
  • Black Pepper
  • Salt, Iodized

Beans/Rice

  • Dry beans (e.g. lentils, chickpeas/garbanzo, kidney, black, pinto, white)
  • Rice

Cooking Products

  • Oil (e.g. vegetable, canola)
  • Vinegar

Jams/Condiments

  • Honey
  • Raspberry Jam
  • Strawberry Jam
  • Peanut Butter

Sugar

  • White Sugar

Flour

  • White Flour

Pasta

  • Macaroni Noodles
  • Rice noodles
  • Spaghetti Noodles

Storage Produce

  • Potatoes/Sweet Potatoes
  • Onions
  • Garlic
  • Ginger
  • Winter squash

Once you have collected food items from the list above to donate, please bring your items to one of our two scheduled drop-off dates below. Please drop off your items in a box or reusable grocery bag and wear a mask!

Drop Off 1: Saturday, October 31, 2020, 10am – 12:30pm | Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church, 5140 Memorial Dr, Stone Mountain, GA 30083

Drop Off 2: Saturday, November 7, 2020, 10am – 12:30pm | The IRC in Atlanta Office, 2305 Parklake Drive NE, Suite 100, Atlanta, GA 30345
