Other ways to get involved in Charlottesville
There are many ways for you to get involved with the IRC's work in Charlottesville!
Employ a refugee:
- Refugees are resilient and are eager to find work and integrate into their new community. The IRC’s employment services helps to prepare refugees for Charlottesville’s job market and secure employment locally. Have a job lead? Let us know at Charlottesville@rescue.org.
Help us find affordable housing:
- Do you know of affordable housing along or near a Charlottesville bus line? The IRC works with various property managers and landlords in the community to provide suitable housing to newly arriving refugees. Tips are welcome!
*Please note: We have received many offerings from community members to house newly arriving refugees in their homes. While we are deeply grateful, the IRC arranges for refugee families to rent their own apartments or houses as we feel it is a more sustainable solution that respects the inherent dignity of the people we serve.
Shop at Michie Market:
- The 2016 Michie Market will be held on Thursday evenings starting the first week of June at Michie Drive off of Hydraulic near Whole Foods. The weekly fresh produce farm stand features a unique array of locally grown vegetables by New Roots Microproducers. It will stay open until October.
- Some New Roots growers will also sell at Charlottesville City Market and Farmers in the Park at Meade Park during summer 2016.
