It’s back to school time! Anyone with school-age kids has probably already been mailed their “required materials” lists and maybe even completed some back-to-school shopping.
The IRC in Richmond resettled many large families over the summer, some with as many as six school-age children. This can be a tough time of year for anyone with finite household funds, but for newly resettled families, fulfilling all of the teachers’ specific requirements and staying on budget for the months of August and September can be especially challenging.
Please consider making a donation to sponsor one child’s back-to-school needs for the coming year. For elementary and middle school students, a $100 donation will cover a backpack filled with pens, pencils, paper, notebooks, and other required school supplies. For high schoolers, a $120 donation covers a backpack with a few additional necessary items, such as a calculator. Thank you for your generosity!
