The IRC in Atlanta’s Youth Leadership Team have been working for months on a campaign to increase awareness of sexual and reproductive health services available to young people in the Clarkston area, so they were thrilled to participate in the Clarkston Culture Fest to expand their community outreach.

Moza arrived in the United States with her family when she was just 13 years old after fleeing ongoing conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Now aged 20, Moza is studying to become a nurse practitioner and working to empower her community to access healthcare.

Remembering Susan Hope

On April 23, 2017, Susan Hope, a longtime volunteer, donor and advocate for the IRC in Atlanta, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. She is greatly missed, but her compassionate and generous spirit are ever-present in our office and our work.

From refugee to IRC caseworker: Dede’s story

Dede Shimiyimana was resettled by the IRC in Atlanta in 2015, after living with his family in a Ugandan refugee camp for 18 years. Now, Dede is one of our very own resettlement caseworkers, helping other refugees rebuild their lives and thrive, just as he has, here in Atlanta.

Virtual Connect to Success Tutor

The IRC in Atlanta’s Connect to Success (C2S) program is one of the only programs in the U.S. dedicated exclusively to supporting out-of-school refugee youth ages 16 to 24. C2S addresses the unique barriers to success faced by this population through holistic support, including one-on-one coaching and group workshops. All of our programs are currently operating virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
