Peer Mentor, Refugee Youth Summer Academy (RYSA)
The Refugee Youth Summer Academy is a six-week program focusing on the English literacy, math, and learning skills newly arrived refugee, asylee and other vulnerable immigrant youth need to succeed at their grade level in the New York City public system. Students participate in academic and physical education classes, as well as creative arts programming, including theater, music and dance.

College & Career Readiness Advisor Volunteer
The College & Career Readiness Advisor will manage a caseload of IRC clients who are interested in pursuing higher education or vocational school. The intern will provide individual consultations and follow-up on all referrals. The intern will also plan college readiness workshops and several CUNY college visits. This volunteer role will provide firsthand experience in managing a caseload of refugee and immigrant clients, planning and implementing workshops, designing and implementing a college/career readiness curriculum for recently-arrived refugee and asylee youth.
Family Education Support Volunteer
The Family Education Support Volunteer will assist the program coordinator to evaluate and assess students, prepare materials for classes and complete both short and long term outreach projects.
Artist and IRC Alumni, Adama Nanguin Abib Coulibaly, Makes his Gallery Debut
Originally from Cote d'Ivoire, Adama arrived in the US less than six years ago. He attended the Refugee Youth Summer Academy (RYSA) and then enrolled into 9th grade at Brooklyn International High School. He and his mom participated in the Academic Coaching program, and a few years later, Adama became a "Leader in Training" - including working as a Peer Mentor at RYSA in 2014 and 2015. Meanwhile, he honed his artistry. When he graduated high school in 2015, he enrolled at the Borough of Manhattan Community College studying liberal arts, playing soccer, and painting.

Food and Agriculture Job Training Program
POWER (Providing Opportunities for Women's Economic Resilience) and New Roots are proud to follow all the graduates of the Food and Agriculture Job Training Program as they start careers and gain control of their futures. Almost all graduates go on to seek additional training or employment within the local food industry.
GenR at IRC's Rescue Dinner
The IRC’s annual Rescue Dinner was held last week on a warm November evening at the Hilton in midtown Manhattan. The guests were welcomed with a reception before making our way to the tables inside the dining room.
