At the third annual New American Dream Lab, three aspiring entrepreneurs shared their stories, hopes and dreams for their small businesses—competing for a grand prize of $2,500.

In July, Farah Hammodi, health promotion coordinator at the IRC in Salt Lake City, became a U.S. citizen. Recently, she shared her experience working through the process.

Over the next three months, the IRC in Salt Lake City will take a deep dive describing our efforts to serve refugee families as they resettle in our community, work toward self-sufficiency, and positively integrate as a new neighbor in the Beehive State.

As part of the International Rescue Committee’s national Refugee Voices initiative, New American Voices in Salt Lake City encourages refugees and other New Americans to learn more about civic engagement, advocacy, and preparing for national events like the Census and the 2020 election.

Support new American entrepreneurs at the Spice Kitchen Incubator.

The housing and casework intern will support the IRC in Salt Lake City's housing program, ensuring that refugees have a home to call their own as soon as they arrive to the US.

Assist refugees as they find and start their first job in the US.

Assist refugees and immigrants as they apply for citizenship! Becoming a US citizen is a big step, and the process is lengthy. Help immigration clients as they prepare their applications at group processing events. Next training: August 27th.
