IRC hosts Cultural Orientation trainers from around the world
The IRC was delighted to host Cultural Orientation (CO) trainers from all over the world here in Seattle! This visit to Seattle was a unique opportunity for CO trainers and IRC staff to exchange knowledge and experiences. More importantly, it allowed trainers to learn directly from refugee community members who have been through the resettlement process.
Building financial capabilities
With help from 17 volunteers from wealth management firm Brighton Jones, IRC program participants received one-on-one support building plans to achieve their financial goals.

IRC's anti-trafficking efforts recognized by Mayor Durkan
The IRC recently partnered with the Seattle Mayor's Office and Human Services Department to commemorate Human Trafficking Awareness Month. The event honored local trailblazers who have made significant contributions to anti-trafficking work in the state and featured an insightful panel discussion with three survivors of human trafficking.

Better Together Family Program
Last year, the IRC in Seattle launched the Better Together Family Program to support refugee mothers of young children who are new to the Seattle area. Program participants recently went on a fun, educational, and quintessentially Seattle outing to the Pacific Science Center – complete with a ride on the monorail! Eagle Scout collects 1,700 pounds of food for local families
After learning about the IRC, Eagle Scout Ethan was inspired to help newcomers in his community. With the help of family, friends, and his Eagle Scout troop, Ethan collected more than 1,700 pounds of food. What a wonderful example of making #RefugeesWelcome!
