Update on Afghan Resettlement April 2022
An update on Afghan refugee resettlement in Colorado including statistics on how many refugees have been resettled from September 2021 to March 2022 and services provided by the IRC in Denver related to health care screenings, school enrollment, employment, housing, and immigration. Food Program Delivery Volunteer
Seeking volunteer delivery drivers who will work with our partner, Village Exchange Center, using their easy-to-navigate food delivery application to deliver bags of fresh produce, toiletries, meals, and more to Afghan clients each week.
Resettlement Support Volunteer
An on-call volunteer position supporting newly arrived clients to meet their basic needs. Resettlement Support volunteers can sign up for tasks such as delivering items to client home, transporting clients to appointments or to purchase food and clothing, setting up temporary housing, or creating welcome boxes.
New Roots Garden Volunteer
The New Roots Volunteers work with refugee clients from differing backgrounds and skills to support them in their gardening journey. It is an opportunity for our newest neighbors to grow food to feed their families and reconnect with their cultural heritage and new communities.
AmeriCorps Financial Coach
The IRC in Denver is recruiting one full-time person to serve as an AmeriCorps member to provide financial literacy, financial planning, budgeting, saving, and other financial counseling education to refugee and asylee clients — all with an eye toward addressing persistent poverty and helping families build a stronger future.
