For Volunteer Appreciation Month, the International Rescue Committee (IRC) in Salt Lake City shares the impact of Housing Support Volunteers who ensure a home is ready for newly arriving refugee families.

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) in Salk Lake City supported the resettlement of over 600 Afghan evacuees who now call Utah home. This effort could not have been as successful without numerous hotel partners across the valley.

The IRC in Atlanta, in partnership with Refugee Women’s Network, the Latin American Association, and the Somali American Community Center, has received an $800,000 award from the U.S. Small Business Administration to help small business owners from Georgia's diverse communities rebuild resilient, thriving companies.

Before the Refugee Act of 1980 standardized refugee resettlement through the use of resettlement agencies, such as the International Rescue Committee, resettlement was largely conducted privately or through community groups. With the increasing numbers and enthusiasm of local community groups offering to partner to resettle refugees, IRC is committed to integrating community sponsorship programming at the local and national levels!
