Do you speak another language? Join the International Rescue Committee in New York as a Community Interpreter Volunteer to help interpret for newly arrived refugees and immigrants. 

As a resource development intern you will be responsible for assisting the Development Coordinator with various aspects of fundraising, event planning, volunteer recruitment and coordination, and handling in-kind donations. Tasks may include recording donations and responding to donors, answering volunteer inquiries, maintaining records of volunteers and their service hours, processing donations of goods and assisting with the in-kind inventory management. As such, you will be expected to learn about the IRC (history, scope of work, values, etc.), our clients, and core services. All activities will be done in coordination with office staff and under the supervision of the Development Coordinator.

During the holiday season, the IRC gives you the opportunity to share the American spirit of giving with refugee families through the IRC in Abilene's Home for the Holidays program. By participating, you make a refugee’s first holiday in the U.S. one they will always remember.

The IRC and the LEGO Foundation’s Play Well project launch Dunga, a new local-language radio show to help children and caregivers learn through play across Tanzania and Uganda

Tutor needed for topic areas of conversation, literacy, pronunciation, workplace English (nursing, IT), grammar, citizenship interview & exam prep.

ESL instructor: Classes are online. We offer Zoom practice to build your technological confidence and share remote teaching tips. If you would like to teach or tutor at our Elizabeth office, please let us know, as it will help us shape the upcoming ESL sessions. Fluency or familiarity with Spanish, Arabic, Pashto, Dari, Haitian Creole, or Swahili is a bonus, but it's not required.

Representative Ferry meets refugees at Cultural Orientation

In October, more than 200 newly arrived refugees received winter wear as part of the IRC in Salt Lake City’s Warm Welcome Winter Clothing Drive. 

Since late September, the IRC in Salt Lake City has welcomed more than 190 Afghan refugees to Utah, With support from community partners like the Utah Muslim Civic League, the IRC is there to help families rebuild their lives in our community.
