The exhibit shows both photo and experience, following six people along with a map of their journey from their country of birth, to their new home in the Wichita area. Artist, Kalene Nisly, has volunteered with the IRC for many years.
From Refugee to Home, by Kalene Nisly
Warsan Shire said, "At the end of the day, it isn't where I came from. Maybe home is somewhere I'm going and never have been before."
Refugee stories hold loss, but also extraordinary perserverance. They show incredible courage and a will to shape a new future for their families in teh plains of Kansas. From Refugee to Home follows those who have been displaced and are making new lives in Wichita, KS. Refugee families add a richness to the tapestry of our communities and this show hopes to tell that story.
