Through travel, we learn that we are all citizens of the same world. While many of us enjoy the freedom to travel for leisure, millions of men, women, and children around the globe have been forced to flee their homes due to conflict and crisis.
To help, Lokai and TripAdvisor®, the world's largest travel site, have created unique bracelets whose colors correspond to the flags of Kenya, Greece and Thailand. For each bracelet sold through July 4, 2017, Lokai will donate $1 to IRC programs that assist refugees offered shelter in these three countries.
- Men, women and children become refugees when they are forced to flee their countries due to war, or to persecution because of their race, religion, nationality or political affiliation.
- More than half of the world’s refugees are children under the age of 18. And 3/4 are women and children.
- Over 60 percent of refugees live in a city or other urban area—not in a refugee camp.
- Refugees are the most vetted people coming into the United States.
