The IRC Commends House and Senate for Providing Foreign Aid to Address Global Crises

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) welcomes the passage of the Fiscal Year 2018 Omnibus Appropriations bill by Congress — a commendable bipartisan effort to provide assistance to continue America’s longstanding position as a global leader.

While $54 billion in foreign aid is a decrease from last year’s cumulative funding level, the IRC applauds the work that has been done to protect humanitarian aid which is vital to addressing threats around the world. The bill includes $7.6 billion in humanitarian assistance funding  — 46% above the level proposed by the administration.
