IRC statement on Pittsburgh attack

Last updated

Following the terrible loss of life yesterday in Pittsburgh, President and CEO of the International Rescue Committee David Miliband said:

“On behalf of the whole IRC family in America and around the world, we are united in grief with the families of those who lost loved ones in Pittsburgh yesterday. The IRC was created by Albert Einstein in the 1930s in the face of unprecedented onslaught against Europe’s Jewish population. We are appalled that anti-Semitism, and it seems hatred of refugees, should be the fuel for killing of Jews in America in 2018. We stand with those in mourning yesterday, and with our sister organization HIAS, which works alongside the IRC in welcoming refugees to enrich this country.  Racial hatred has no place in the civilized world, and we will not rest until it is defeated.”
