After some of the bloodiest fighting in more than seven years of civil war in Syria—including a suspected chemical attack in the town of Douma—the enclave of Eastern Ghouta is under the control of the Syrian government.

Some 100 people are reported dead and hundreds more injured in a chemical weapons attack on Tuesday in Syria’s northern Idlib province. Doctors at an IRC-supported hospital in the city of Idlib were able to save the lives of 10 people caught in the attack. 

The chemical weapons attack in Idlib is only the latest in a series of attacks on the 2 million people now living in the province--including 700,000 who had already fled fighting in other parts of Syria.
