In this report the International Rescue Committee (IRC) demonstrates how informal education programming in Cox’s Bazar is constrained by a number of major challenges: limited and short-term funding; low quality of teaching; programme restrictions and approval delays; infrastructural limitations; and low levels of enrolment and student retention – all challenges exacerbated by the COVID-19 outbreak and response

Low-income families struggle with financial volatility in their daily lives.  During COVID-19, these struggles have been amplified. 

The Client Responsiveness Measurement Framework aims to help organisations monitor, assess and verify how well they are “putting people at the centre” by using inputs and feedback from affected people in decision-making around aid programmes.

The goal of this brief report is to provide a succinct, “real-time” snapshot of the main economic challenges that families are facing, adaptations that IRC programs are making, and the lessons that are emerging.

At the IRC, our diverse clients, partners, and staff have the power, voice, and agency to shape programs and operations. Within the IRC, we actively work to end all forms of systemic discrimination and foster an inclusive working environment where everyone feels respected, heard, valued, and supported. Our programs seek to reduce disparities in outcomes which are driven by systemic inequality.
