The IRC in Phoenix is committed to bringing our refugee clients from harm to home. As a part of that commitment, we provide them with necessities – such as clothing and household items – they will need to start rebuilding their lives here. To do this, the IRC relies on donated items from community partners that are passed into the hands of our clients free of charge either through our Resettlement Shop or as part of an initial apartment setup.

Students from Wichita East High School and Manhattan Middle School in Manhattan, Kansas hosted donation drives for hygiene items to be given to refugees resettling in Wichita.

The International Rescue Committee in Wichita is closed to staff, clients and the general public due to COVID-19. Staff will continue to communicate with clients remotely during this time.

Prior to their arrival in Wichita, the IRC must set up a household that includes essential items for the arriving family. One way community members and organizations can contribute is to donate these goods which allows clients to to utilize limited resettlement funds on pressing needs such as rent and utilities as they work towards self-sufficiency.

Each year, hundreds of people help IRC welcome refugees to Northern California. You and your colleagues, friends or family can host a refugee welcome kit build. All items are directly given to newly arrived families who have been forced to flee their homes due to conflict and persecution.
