In celebration of World Refugee Day on June 20th, the IRC in Silver Spring profiled four individuals who came to the U.S. as refugees and went on to make significant contributions to our society.

Staffed and managed by members of Georgia's refugee community, the IRC-CORE COVID-19 mobile testing sites had an incredibly successful first month of operation in Clarkston, drastically increasing access to testing—and contact tracing—with capacity for interpretation in 20 languages. The International Rescue Committee (IRC) in Salt Lake City looks toward the future, expanding employment services for refugee and new American clients. Omar Alsalim, employment services supervisor, speaks to the additions to this program.

Each year on June 20—World Refugee Day—the world commemorates the strength, courage, and resilience of millions of refugees. At the IRC in Atlanta, we also take this time to celebrate the vast contributions that refugees have made to our state for more than 40 years and advocate for refugees, asylum seekers and the restoration of the U.S. refugee resettlement program.
