Children of war have experienced unimaginable trauma. It’s difficult for them to express themselves and heal from their experiences. Art can help — that's why the IRC held a mask-painting workshop for Syrian refugee children in Jordan to help them communicate their feelings.

"You can see the emotional impact of the explosion in every face," says IRC staff member Elias El Beam, who volunteered to help after the Beirut blast. "But you can also see hope."

In war-torn Libya, a roving IRC medical team is providing lifesaving care to people unable to reach a doctor because of the violence and general lawlessness that surrounds them.
