Mohammad and his family arrived in Atlanta just two months ago after he received a special immigrant visa (SIV) for his service with the U.S. military in Afghanistan.

June 26th is the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture. The IRC provides specialized programs for survivors of torture in Arizona.

The U.S. has a long tradition of offering refuge to those fleeing persecution and war. These vulnerable populations have suffered unimaginable hardship and face tremendous obstacles as they start their new lives. The IRC staff and volunteers provide support to refugees from their first moments in the country to help set them on a path to self-sufficiency.

Through the IRC in Salt Lake City’s early employment program, Iver, an asylee from Venezuela, found a job in his preferred field as he and his family began their life in the United States.
