Under the DOCA (Denver Office of Children Affairs) Grant, the DOCA Youth Navigator volunteers will ensure refugee, asylee, and immigrant youth (Ages 5-21) are provided safe, welcoming, and enriching opportunities to reconnect with other youth, role models, and their families. Programming is trauma-informed with a focus on cultural adjustment, mental health promotion, and social-emotional learning. The intern will help support in these areas by engaging in a mentorship model, where they will work with youth (1-3 families per mentor) to understand the needs the youth has, help the family in navigating community and school-based resources, and connect to academic or extracurricular supports.
