Inspired by March Madness basketball brackets, the IRC in Atlanta’s FoodCorps Service Member, Meggie Stewart, partnered with Indian Creek Elementary cafeteria staff to encourage students to try and enjoy a greater variety of vegetables.

New York & New Jersey's RYSA programs serve hundreds of students each summer. With the onset of COVID-19, RYSA 2020 is adapting to keep RYSA students safe.

When Eielnata started first grade in a local elementary school this fall, she had a new backpack filled with school supplies. Over the years, the IRC has worked with many community groups and individuals to provide new backpacks and other needed items to support refugees and immigrants as they start school in Baltimore.

Through our partnership with FoodCorps—part of the AmeriCorps service network—the IRC in Atlanta has been able to expand our gardening and nutrition education programming into two DeKalb County elementary schools. Our incredible 2020-21 FoodCorps service member, Laura Diaz-Villaquiran, adapted quickly to virtual teaching and provides culturally appropriate, garden-based lessons to over 150 DeKalb County K-3 students.
