On March 5 and 6, the IRC in Atlanta’s Adult Education programs celebrated International Women’s Day (IWD) with an engaging class where students learned about the significance of the day, celebrated important women in their lives, and learned new vocabulary.

Recently, the refugee women who participate in the IRC in Dallas’ “Arab Women’s Support Group” received certificates for completing their support group sessions!

The IRC in Silver Spring is supporting vulnerable refugee women by removing barriers to their employment, by offering English instruction, socialization and specialized cultural orientation.

The IRC in Salt Lake City’s education program and Cotopaxi collaborated to bring a day of adventure to young refugee women in Salt Lake City.

The second class of POWER (Providing Opportunities for Women's Economic Resilience) professional community interpreters graduated on March 30th, 2017.

POWER (Providing Opportunities for Women's Economic Resilience) and New Roots are proud to follow all the graduates of the Food and Agriculture Job Training Program as they start careers and gain control of their futures. Almost all graduates go on to seek additional training or employment within the local food industry.

Aliyah came to the US with her two children in 2016 and Maria arrived in December 2018 with her husband and eight children. Both came to the U.S. looking for a better future for their families. They are a part of the Women’s Employability Program (WEP) at the IRC Baltimore, which is program that supports women in overcoming obstacles to working in the U.S. The women in the WEP program are a network for each other.

The IRC in Atlanta is thrilled to announce that two of our very own—Ms. Sharita Khatiwada and Ms. Samiha Ross—have been named as part of the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network (YNPN) Atlanta ‘30 under 30’ Class of 2020!
