The Healthcare Admin Professionals Initiative (HAPI) program completed its first cohort. The Economic Empowerment Unit reflects on the program so far.

Last summer, the IRC in Atlanta launched a new English for Nursing Assistants program with the goal of supporting adult students with high quality English language instruction so that they can be successful in a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training and begin working in the healthcare field.

On September 19, the IRC in Atlanta’s Connect 2 Success (C2S) program hosted its second Virtual Career Panel of the year—this time concentrating on the healthcare professions.

Through a partnership with CORE, the IRC was able to employ refugees in free COVID-19 testing centers throughout LA. One such refugee from, Narbeh, shares his experience and the pride he feels every day helping people: “It really makes my heart feel better. Just the fact that I can help people makes me happy.” 

Moza arrived in the United States with her family when she was just 13 years old after fleeing ongoing conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Now aged 20, Moza is studying to become a nurse practitioner and working to empower her community to access healthcare.
